My best friend Mindy had to take a business trip out to Boston and I was lucky enough to be able to join her. (Thanks, Jay!) As an added bonus Mindy and I were able to see my old roomate, Edna, as she is now an east coast resident. Everything in Boston was historic - even our hotel! No hot tub for me :( However, there was so much to do in Boston, it didn't matter that Mindy and I didn't get to soak our sore feet. While Mindy had her conference to attend during the day, I ventured out on my own a bit. I walked all along the river, and past all the cute shops. (Yes, I said past - much to Ryan's relief, I didn't come back with much more than I went with.) I also ventured out to Fenway Park, but found out Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow ruined the ride to the top of the Green Monster that I had planned to take. I went up to the top of the Prudential building for a breathtaking view of the city, and even braved the subway on my own to head out and tour Sam Adam's brewery, where I was rewarded by several tasty beverages - including a beer that tasted like barbeque ribs! In the evenings, Edna came to visit Mindy and I, and played tour guide. She took us through Boston Commons, a beautiful park across from our hotel. She also took us out whale watching, which was really fun, as we were surrounded by humpback whales! We visited Faneuil Hall, went to see Harvard, and even ventured into York, Maine on our last day to visit a lighthouse. Mindy and I also shared some nachos at the bar that Cheers was based on, and went on a Harbor cruise with her fellow conference goers. Oh, wait, I almost forgot! Mindy almost had her purse stolen at PF Chang's, but her radar went off when she glimpsed something pink under the arm of a large tough looking guy in a wife beater, and she hollered out "Hey! You have my purse!" The man instantly played dumb, and as he was surely afraid that Mindy could take him out with a single punch, he gave her purse back and ran off. Her heroics earned us a free piece of chocolate cake to share. All in all, I had a wonderful time in Boston!
